Summary

Witness what the gods do after dark in the third volume of a stylish and contemporary reimagining of one of the best-known stories in Greek mythology, featuring a brand-new, exclusive short storyfrom creator Rachel Smythe。

"A refreshingly modern and surprisingly poignant take on the Hades and Persephone myth 。 。 。 steamy, often laugh-out-loud funny, and emotional。"-Jennifer L。 Armentrout, #1 New York Times bestselling author of From Blood and Ash

"It is natural for a King to be curious about his future Queen。 。 。 。"

All of Olympus-and the Underworld-are talking about the God of the Dead and the sprightly daughter of Demeter。 But despite the rumors of their romance, Hades and Persephone have plenty to navigate on their own。

Since coming to Olympus, Persephone has struggled to be the perfect maiden goddess。 Her attraction to Hades has only complicated the intense burden of the gods' expectations。 And after Apollo's assault, Persephone fears she can no longer bury the intense feelings of hurt and love that she's worked so hard to hide。

As Persephone contemplates her future, Hades struggles with his past, falling back into toxic habits in Minthe's easy embrace。 With all the mounting pressure and expectations-of their family, friends, and enemies-both Hades and Persephone tell themselves to deny their deepest desires, but the pull between them is too tempting, too magnetic。 It's fate。

This full-color edition of Smythe's original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus brings Greek mythology into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel。

This volume collects episodes 50-75 of the #1 WEBTOON comic Lore Olympus。

She's not perfect, but at her core she's really just a damaged girl trying to get through it, and I love that。 。。。more

This series is just so addicting! It's getting better and better and I just can't stop reading it! I think so much I already said in my reviews of the previous two volumes, but this graphic novel series is so good。 It talks about so many topics, like fitting in in a new place, making friends and finding love。 Also, some more difficult topics are discussed, just keep that in mind。 I also love to learn about the stories of some of the side characters like Eros! ABSOLUTE FAV !!! this is soo good I don’t know how I’ll get over Hades and Persephone relationship。 Finally a story where mental health is prioritized and where we are actually COMMUNICATING!! Rachel Smythe really outdid herself。

So I didn't think much of this webcomic when I initially started reading it, because I forgot the cardinal rule of webcomics: They are never at their best right at the start。 They are all about building layers and layers over an inordinately long period of time, subplots woven into subplots, content that could be considered "filler" in the tightness of a novel but is necessary for the worldbuilding of a webcomic。 This is why I don't think they work as well in book form— particularly Lore Olympus So I didn't think much of this webcomic when I initially started reading it, because I forgot the cardinal rule of webcomics: They are never at their best right at the start。 They are all about building layers and layers over an inordinately long period of time, subplots woven into subplots, content that could be considered "filler" in the tightness of a novel but is necessary for the worldbuilding of a webcomic。 This is why I don't think they work as well in book form— particularly Lore Olympus, for which some of my favorite online episodes come with a score that brings the emotional potency of key scenes to the fore。 Initially, the story seemed quite simple, covering well-trod ground with its dark bad boy with a heart of gold and its bubbly princess that brings him out of his shell。 But I watched it develop into something so much better than that— all vivid colors and expressive and sensory style, intriguing threads of subplot, wrath。 That's why each book is getting a different rating; not because I actually know where the books delineate, but to encapsulate my experience of moving through the entire story。 Persephone eating the pomegranate seeds takes on an entirely different meaning— so much more hard-hitting because of the layers of mythology that color our perspectives about these characters。 I think Smythe balances existing stories and reinvention brilliantly— and I think that particular blend of familiar-but-not is exactly why it is such a phenomenon。 God, it's beautiful, and I hate that I'm going to have to wait like a plebeian for the rest of the story。 。。。more
